I am constantly reminded of the words spoken by Master Yoda in the second Star Wars movie. It has been drummed into my soul. Do or do not. The word try is just an excuse for those who actually do not.
Maybe the world is a pessimist. It seems that everywhere I go someone wants to be sure I have heard the latest news. When in fact I am doing my best to fill my life with meaning and avoid wasting time thinking about what evil still lurks about us. However I know there are optimists out there. Winston Churchill was one of the most famous and he said:
“A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty”
What a great line! Well said! Food for thought in what is generally accepted as not the best of times. To try is to expect to fail. The universe often gives you what you expect. To do is to succeed. Edison made the light bulb. It is what he set out to do. If he set out to try he would have given up well before the 1,001th experiment that worked to his expectations.
I totally agree with Yoda. He said it most succinctly. “Do or do not. There is no try”.
