Each Day is What YOU Make of It

Regardless of where you are in your life, this moment is unique. It passes as most other moments do, however it is the moment in which you change the course of your life. This is not to say you will remain on that course, for often life is like trying to swim upstream, the moment you relax your vigil, you find yourself drifting back downstream again. My point is you have a glimpse of where you would rather be and more importantly the realization of what it will take to get there.

I often think of that song from “South Pacific” where Bloody Mary sings "Happy Talk". In it is a verse that goes:

You got to have a dream,
If you don’t have a dream,
How you gonna have a dream come true?

It must be this core, this essential concept that creates opportunity. Without that dream we would all be frightened mammals hiding in our hidey-hole from all the predators. But somewhere lost in time, one of our ancestors had a dream. It was not an easy dream to convey for then there was no language. We were prey and gathered together in numbers for safety. Regardless of the odds somehow that dream was shared and came true. A dream that together we would be the most ferocious of predators. But only by participation in that dream did we make that dream come true. No other living creature on this earth can go into outer space. Only our species, homo sapiens, has landed on the moon. That is indeed a “BIG LEAP”! Together with a dream we have become the Super-Predator!

Perhaps that is why so many people continue to push on with a difficult concept. They have a dream of perhaps a better world, if only we would all share that dream. Unfortunately not all dreams come true. There are beliefs that conflict and thus dreams that conflict. Many result in that horror we have also created out of our dreams or rather our nightmares, WAR. Thus a dream is not a good thing in and of itself. Like today, it is something that comes from what effort we put into it. Hand in hand a dream and what you do today with it determines your tomorrow.
